In line with the process of digitalization and standardization within the shipping industry, IB has announced to have joined the Shipdex community.
The primary scope of Shipdex is to allow manufacturers and customers to create a technical documentation repository where all the data are collected and managed under quality, configuration and version control.
BIMCO, one of the Shipdex Executive Members, has recently organized a meeting in Copenhagen to discuss with the main CMMS Computerized Maintenance Management Software providers, the benefits of adopting the Shipdex Standard Protocol standard. “We found there the major software suppliers and all expressed interest in implementing the Shipdex™ protocol in their products to meet the requirements from shipowners and ship yards” – said Giampiero Soncini IB Marine CEO – “and it is a natural process for IB to join this group”
Designed to be used by shipowners, shipyards, manufacturers, classification societies and application service providers, the Protocol uses a common source database to store, retrieve, publish and exchange technical and logistic data across the shipping community. Instruction manuals, maintenance plans and spare parts catalogues can be shared between any company or organization that wishes to use it, in a neutral and standardized format, safely and securely.
